Sister buying a new house, so much to consider!
My sister in law is looking for a new house, having moved to our town about 6 months ago. It’s been a long and arduous task finding just the perfect place that meets all their needs. You need enough bedrooms, bathrooms, an attached garage for 2 cars, a fenced in yard would be nice, and of course a place for the kids to play. It can be maddening to keep finding the perfect house out of your price range and then finding junk within your price range. It really is amazing what some people are willing to live with.
Anyway, as part of the hunting we always stand in the houses we’re touring and list off the things we would change. Sometimes big things like getting new bamboo flooring installed in a couple of rooms and maybe even new berber carpet colors in the living room, or even just a little thing like getting a simple room divider screen to divide up spaces in bigger areas. The options are limitless, but without the list you’ll go crazy trying to remember all the things you either need or want to change should you choose to buy the house.
If you’re looking at a lot of houses at once, like when you go on one of those large city real estate bus tours, keeping track of each place separately is critical. You don’t want to confuse the needs of house number 1 with house number 5 and then make a poor purchasing decision as a result.
Unfortunately while my sister in law found the nearly perfect house that they could afford, they had to put their plans on hold for other reasons. It means repeating all the house hunting that’s already been done, but it is fun and we’re happy to help support them.
