West Yorkshire is a remarkable part of England, and is part of Yorkshire which was split up for local government into several units some years ago, because Yorkshire is such a large county .
On its own West Yorkshire is an unusual county, having five local areas, many towns, yet some beautiful countryside in between. The main cities in the area are:
Leeds, Bradford – which share an airport – Halifax, Huddersfield, Ilkley, Keighley and Wakefield.
