Make Camp Cooking Interesting and Festive
What do you like to do on family holidays? Go to the beach or spend a week in the country? Maybe you like camping or visiting relatives. Did you pack a couple frozen steaks in the cooler? Do not cook meat on a grill while it is still frozen, or even partially frozen. Thaw your meat by sitting it out several hours if need be before you plan on cooking it. If your meat has been thawed in a refrigerator, set it out long enough for the meat to get to room temperature. Poking holes in meat while it is cooking will cause the juice inside to leak out into the bottom of the grill. Not only will this make your food dry and unappealing, but it also could clog the orifice on your gas grill. At the very least, it will cause a buildup of unwanted grease and juices on your road trip grills, which will make cleanup harder. Once meat is cooked, never put it back in on the same plate you had it on when it was raw. This could cause the spread of many unwanted illnesses. Do not handle cooked meat with the same utensils that you used when it was raw.
