How Long To Fix Your Golf Swing?

One of the questions that I think a lot of people would like to know is, “how long will it take to fix my golf swing.” Below, I have outlined the various methods. After going through them, it’s going to be up to you to decide which approach is the best for you.

Swing Fix 1 - Buying New Equipment

Every golfer has bought new clubs at one time or another to help change their game.   Now, I don’t want to totally discount this fix because buying new clubs can improve your golf game if you’re playing the wrong clubs, or your clubs are not properly fitted to you and your swing. What you should do, is find an experienced clubfitter and have your clubs fitted and your swing checked.

Buying new clubs gives you a quick fix in another way. Newer clubs feel different from your old clubs. When you hit shot with them, you aren’t thinking about your swing because they feel so different. This new feeling totally clears your mind but it doesn’t last long.Using your new clubs for a couple of weeks and they won’t feel all that different so you go right back to thinking about your swing. So, you really shouldn’t be trying all these new clubs.

As I mentioned earlier, try to find a professional clubfitter and get fitted.Once you do that, you really should focus on your swing.

Swing Fix 2 - All Those Swing Tps

We’ve all picked up the latest golf magazine and tried the latest golf tips hoping they will magically get our game back on track.Unfortuantely, most golfers don’t have the experience to determine whether or not these tips will work for them. If you don’t know your swing well enough, and you try these tips, you may actually be making your swing worse. Plus, a tip is just a tip. It’s not certain that it’s going to help develop the proper fundamentals.

An example of this would be to change to a stronger grip.A tip like this may help you square the club a little better but it’s is not helping your develop a proper grip. You should be very careful the next time you go to work on the latest tip you find in a magazine, or from your buddy.  A good idea would be to discuss the tip with your head pro or teaching pro first to see if it would be a good fit for your game.Only then should you try it.It it works, that’s fantastic!

Swing Fix 3 - No Focus

So many people are looking for the instant answer that they fall into the trap of trying way too many things all at once. This approach is futile.  Unfortunately, this is only going to lead to confusion.Plus, you may end up trying so many different things that you forget what actually worked. It may have been luck even if you did find something that worked. The only way you truly know if this way of working on your swing is a success is if you remain successful in the future.

Swing Fix 4 - Change One Thing at a Time

The best way to work on swing changes is to work on one thing at a time.If you take this approach, you remain focused on that one thing therefore, you will not be experimenting. To work on your swing this way, you will need to study a swing method or take lessons from a qualified pro.  By focusing on  your swing like this, you’ll reenforce the changes because you won’t be getting sidetracked. Now, I know that you’re probably thinking this is going to take a long time.If you compare this way to the other fixes I descreibed, you’ll make progress faster this way.

This is because the other aproaches only give you a short term fix whereas, working on only only area of your swing, creates proper mecahincs that you will have well into the future.
