Easy London House Move

Moving home is often stressful, but moving in London has its own set of particular, city related worries. The roads are always packed with parked cars and many of the beautiful old buildings are just not very accessible.

My family and I recently moved from the flat we had occupied in Hackney for the past seven years to a delightful three bedroom terraced house in Islington. Our two children really need rooms of their own and I was looking forward to shorter journeys to work. So we decided to use the services of a specialist London removals company, and I’m so glad that we did.

We initially planned to elicit help from a few strong friends and hire a van to do it all ourselves. But then we reallised the enormity of the moving task and decided to find out how much it would cost to get some professional help.

There are definitely a few ‘cowboy’ firms offering removals in north London. All the firms we spoke to wanted us to believe that they were capable of moving all our valuable stuff without any problems, but after meeting a couple I wasn’t so confident in their abilities.

So I asked around for some recommendations and one particular firm came highly recommended. So I gave them a call and their man came to our little Hackney flat to assess what was required and how much it would cost.

My good lady wife and I were totally impressed. This guy had clearly been in the removals business for a long time and really knew his stuff. He walked around our flat taking note of the bulky items and asking about valuables like my guitars and my wifes paintings and ceramics. He then estimated how many cartons we would need and provided us with a guide price.

Now the price he quoted was a bit more than the quotes we had received from other companies, but they hadn’t even bothered to take a look at what they would be moving. We decided that the additional expense was probably a good investment and booked the firm to move our stuff.

We collected the cartons from their depot and packed everything up ready for the big day, labelling the boxes as we went. We were astounded to find that the estimate of the number of boxes required was spot on and we only had one spare when everything was packed up.

The following day the removal team arrived bright and early as agreed. In no tim at all they had their van neatly packed to the gills with our furniture and clearly labelled boxes. This was no simple task as our flat was on the fourth floor and all the furniture had to be man-handled down the stairs.

They quickly transported our belongings across north London to Islington where they needed to block our narrow road in order to unload. Luckily these removal men had managed situations like this before and they had the van emptied and out of the road in no time.

Our furniture, the children’s toys, my wife’s paintings and ceramics and even my guitars were all moved to their new home in a matter of hours with no damage and no fuss. We were completely unloaded and looking for the box where we’d stored our kettle before lunch time.m. which was incredible. Moving in London was definitely made far less stressful by these professionals and we even had a bit of fun.
