Discover The Best Places to Go to Find Cheap Ski Holidays This Winter
Cheap ski holidays - you’ve got to be joking!
No, I’m kidding, because doing the research for this piece, I’ve found a business that offers just what you may be looking for. I wouldn’t go on such a holiday myself at this time, but forty years ago I would have had a go!.
Just to put you in the picture I run my own site selling cheap ski holidays, but what I’ve found now are a lot cheaper and will be getting in touch with them shortly! That’s enough of that, so let’s move on.
Thirty years ago I was employed by a business which sold cheap ski holidays. Diamond Ski (not their real name!) really were great value. Their prices may have gone up now but they still offer great ski deals. I had the luck to be employed by them but it wasn’t exactly back breaking.
The cost for the punter was pared down to the bone - catered chalets with the lowest rents where the punters often had to lug heavy suitcases through waist deep snow (I kid you not) a welcome from a toothy bimbette who was only in the resort to score as many young men as she could, and transfers to and from Geneva in old public auction government utility vehicles Part of the job was guiding the punters out skiing; we hoped most of them were bad skiers and then we could ski on our own.
You may think I’m off on a tangent, but it’s important to emphasise the meaning of ‘cheap’. What you pay is what you get - just the absolute minimum with zilch added unless you want to pay for it, just like that low cost airline which shall be nameless. You should be happy with what you get, and if by good fortune you come across a cheap ski holiday that’s a snip, then you’re very lucky.

First of all remember that a skiing holiday cannot be bought for the same price as a holiday in the sun - as an example I’ve discovered a cheap, all inclusive package to Rhodes next Wednesday for £234. The stuff you have to buy to go skiing bear little relation to an itsy-bitsy bikini.. The only bits of kit that double up on the snow or beach are the sun glasses and sun cream, and if you are a fashionista with skin like a baby’s bottom, then you will be getting stronger versions of these too.
Excluding the ski clothes that can be spread across a few years, you now have to arrange the travel, accommodation and food, ski equipment hire, lift pass, ski lessons and insurance. What do you think that’s going to cost? Let’s take a middling ski area such as the Three Valleys. The best travel and ski accommodation deal available is £325 in mid January All the other stuff I’ve mentioned above is going to cost at least £450 over and above that, which adds up to around £750 - a lot more than a summer holiday.
So what’s the bottom line from here? Last winter my son found the best deal going. Action Outdoors is the name to look up. Just £460 will get you a good week’s skiing in January all paid for, but don’t forget that this will be a basic deal. It’s a unbeatable deal Paddy, my son, said it was the best ski trip he had been on for a long time - he spent £620 all in but the extra £150 was spent chasing the night life.
